Sliding wardrobe doors Dubai: cost, systems and materials

October 19, 2026 · 8 min readSliding wardrobe doors Dubai: cost, systems and materials

Sliding wardrobe doors in Dubai typically cost AED 1,800 to AED 4,500 per linear metre, fitted. Almost all of that spread comes from the door system and the face material, not from the carcass behind it.

Why sliding doors beat hinged doors in Dubai bedrooms

A hinged door needs roughly 60cm of clear floor in front of it. In a 3m by 3.5m apartment bedroom that strip is usually where the bed, the dressing table or the room door swing already sits.

Sliding panels travel across the face of the wardrobe, so nothing projects into the room. On a fitted wardrobe in a Dubai apartment the gain is a full 60cm of usable floor along the whole run, which is often enough to fit a proper dressing table or push the bed against the wardrobe wall.

Three more points that matter here:

  • Floor-to-ceiling doors hide the dust ledge that forms on top of a shorter carcass.
  • Panel heights up to 2.7m are routine. Anything taller needs a stronger core or an aluminium frame.
  • A sliding run closes off an awkward recess without a separate partition wall.

Door systems compared: top hung, bottom rolled and panel count

The two systems sold in the UAE are top hung, where the doors hang from a track fixed above the opening, and bottom rolled, where the weight sits on rollers running in a floor track.

  • Top hung: the floor stays clear, movement is quieter on wide panels, and it suits floor-to-ceiling doors. It needs a solid fixing above, so a plasterboard ceiling alone will not carry it.
  • Bottom rolled: the head fixing is simpler and the price is roughly AED 300 to 600 per linear metre lower. The floor track collects dust and sand and needs vacuuming monthly, and doors lift off easily for access to the internals.

Soft close is worth the small premium on either system. It stops a 40kg panel from slamming into the end stop, which is what usually breaks rollers first.

On panel count, a 3.2m opening in two panels means each door is 1.6m wide. That is heavy to push and leaves a wide stack. Three panels of about 1.07m each glide better and open a narrower gap, so you can reach the internals without exposing the full wardrobe.

Wardrobe door materials that survive UAE humidity

HMR MDF with sealed edges is the safest core for Dubai and for coastal apartments, with mirror, lacquered glass and fluted panels used as the face.

  • Standard melamine faced chipboard is the cheapest core and performs fine in a dry, air-conditioned room. Every cut edge must be edged and sealed, because once moisture reaches the core it swells and never dries back flat.
  • HMR MDF resists moisture far better and holds lacquer cleanly. Ask for all four edges sealed, including top and bottom.
  • Solid timber frames look good on day one and move the most. Salt air plus a constant air-conditioning cycle can push them out of flat within a season.

For faces, mirror is the most requested finish in Dubai bedrooms because it doubles the daylight and makes a 3m room read wider. Specify 4mm mirror with a safety backing film. Lacquered glass wipes clean but shows fingerprints more than a matte lacquer. Fluted panels add texture and collect dust in the grooves, so they suit doors more than full walls.

Warping risk is real within a few hundred metres of the water. Doors over 2.4m in a coastal building should get an aluminium frame or a heavier core, with 2 to 3mm expansion clearance at the top and bottom of each panel. Never seal the run tight against both walls. You can review finishes on our wardrobe projects page before you commit.

What sliding wardrobe doors cost in Dubai

Budget AED 1,800 to AED 4,500 per linear metre for a fitted run, with the system and the face material doing most of the moving.

Door system and finishWhat you getTypical cost per linear metre
Bottom rolled, melamine face2 panels, standard core, basic trackAED 1,800 to 2,400
Bottom rolled, mirror or lacquered glass2 panels, 4mm mirror or back painted glassAED 2,400 to 3,100
Top hung, HMR MDF, matte lacquer2 or 3 panels, sealed edgesAED 2,800 to 3,600
Top hung, soft close, fluted or veneer3 panels, adjustable rollers, premium faceAED 3,400 to 4,500
Recessed niche with scribed fillers and LEDAny system above plus lightingAdd AED 400 to 900

These figures assume a 600mm internal depth and include carcass, internals and installation. Replacing doors only on an existing plumb carcass usually costs 40 to 55 percent less.

A worked example. Take a 3.2m wide, 2.6m high bedroom wall with three top hung HMR MDF panels, matte lacquer, soft close and one mirror panel. At AED 3,200 per linear metre the run lands at about AED 10,240. Add a vanity niche with LED strip and two internal drawers at AED 900 to 1,400 and you are near AED 11,500. The same run in melamine on bottom rollers would sit between AED 5,800 and AED 7,700. For a deeper breakdown by carcass and internal fittings, read our guide to fitted wardrobes cost in Dubai.

From survey to install: measuring, lead time and fitting

A measured survey comes first, then three to four weeks of fabrication, then one day on site for installation.

  1. Survey. Allow 30 to 45 minutes. We check wall plumb, ceiling line, floor level, skirting depth and where the door stack will land.
  2. Design and quotation. Two to three working days, with the system, core and finish itemised line by line.
  3. Deposit and final sign-off on dimensions and door swing direction.
  4. Fabrication at three to four weeks, longer for lacquered glass and veneer.
  5. Delivery and installation in a single day for a standard bedroom run, including removal of packaging.
  6. Snag walk-through, where roller height, soft close and door gaps are adjusted on site.

Floor-to-ceiling and recessed niche installs

A floor-to-ceiling run is measured at three points on the ceiling line and three on the floor, because almost no wall in Dubai is dead level. Scribed fillers take up the difference and keep the door edges parallel. In a recessed niche, the doors sit inside the reveal and the track is fixed to the soffit, so the wardrobe disappears into the wall. That detail is covered under our fitted wardrobes and joinery services.

Maintenance, warranty and daily care

Vacuum the track every month and wipe it with a silicone spray rather than oil, which attracts dust. Clean mirror with a non-ammonia glass cleaner and never hang anything from a door handle. Check roller height once a year and adjust rather than force a stiff panel. Ask for warranty terms in writing before the deposit, since hardware is normally covered for one to two years while panel finishes vary by supplier.

Frequently asked questions

How much do sliding wardrobe doors cost in Dubai?

Expect AED 1,800 to AED 4,500 per linear metre fitted. Bottom rolled melamine sits at the lower end, while top hung HMR MDF with lacquer, soft close and a mirror panel sits near the top. A 3.2m bedroom run typically lands between AED 5,800 and AED 11,500 depending on specification.

Can sliding doors be fitted into an existing recess or niche?

Yes, provided the reveal is reasonably plumb and at least 620mm deep. The track fixes to the soffit and scribed fillers close the gap to the walls, so the doors sit inside the opening rather than on the face. Allow an extra AED 400 to 900 per linear metre for fillers and lighting.

Do mirror sliding wardrobe doors make a bedroom look bigger?

They do, and they reflect daylight from the window back into the room. Specify 4mm mirror with a safety backing film and keep the lower 300mm in a solid finish if the wardrobe faces a bed, so the reflection reads as a panel rather than a full wall of glass.

How long does it take from order to installation?

Fabrication runs three to four weeks after the deposit, with lacquered glass and veneer at the longer end. Installation itself takes one day for a standard bedroom run, and we ask for clear access to the wall from 8am.

Will MDF doors warp in Dubai humidity?

HMR MDF with sealed edges handles Dubai conditions well when it is detailed correctly. Warping usually comes from unsealed cut edges, doors over 2.4m without an aluminium frame, or a run sealed tight against both walls with no expansion gap. Coastal buildings need the extra clearance most.

Can I replace just the doors on my existing wardrobe?

Usually yes, if the carcass is square, plumb and fixed firmly to the wall. Doors only cost 40 to 55 percent less than a full run, and the survey will confirm whether the existing frame can carry a new track. If the carcass has swollen from damp, the whole unit needs replacing.
